Fechim has a Board of Directors made of seven members all of whom are shareholders of the company. In addition, there is one robust Board committee, the Strategy and Investment Committee (SIC) which is composed of four members, all Directors. The Chairman of the company sits in the Committee as an ex-Officio member. A co-joint approach has been adopted where there are regular consultations between the SIC and Management in running the affairs of the company. The SIC meets at least once every month.

Eshban C. N. Githiaka, FCIS, MKIM, FIMgt, CPA (K), CPS (K)

Chairman

 

 

 

 

Mr. Githiaka is a founder member and Chairman of Fechim. He is a businessman and a renowned consultant in the areas of Corporate Planning, Investment, Financial, Quality and Project Management. He has engaged in several businesses as owner/director in management training, loan advisory, a representative of international manufacturers, capital markets, real estate and property development. He has had extensive local and overseas management training, has gained immense experience across several industries and has managed large capital projects. Previously, he worked with ICL (K) for 21 years, rising from Financial Controller to Deputy Managing Director. He had earlier worked with Central Holdings Ltd and Nairobi City Council. He has served as Group Financial Controller for Nation Media Group and Finance Director for The Nairobi Hospital.

 

Mr. Githiaka is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators (UK) and Chartered Institute of Management (UK) and is a Member of Kenya Institute of Management, the Institute of Certified Public Accountants (K) and Institute of Certified Public Secretaries (K). He was recently a Director and Chief Executive Officer at Suntra Investment Bank Limited and is currently the Chief Executive of Quiver Development Kenya Limited. He has wide experience in property having been extensively involved in this sector in his private capacity and in partnership with firms in housing development. He works closely with the company’s General Manager in offering guidance and execution of all Board policies and decisions.

 

 

Mwai wa Kihu, BTech, MBA, FKIM

Director

Mr. Mwai is a founder member and immediate former Managing Director of Fechim. An experienced investment and management consultant, he is the founder and CEO of Kenya Productivity Institute, a Management and Training consultancy firm. He is also a co-founder and Chairman of Amalgamated Chama Limited, an umbrella investment group for investment groups in Kenya.

 

Previously, he worked for Firestone E.A. for 21 years, served as a Board Member of Capital Markets Authority and recently retired as a Board Member of the Retirement Benefits Authority; Council Member, Association of Professional Societies of East Africa (APSEA); a Fellow of the Kenya Institute of Management; Board Member, Agricultural Business Development (ABD), a DANIDA/GoK Programme; Member, Institute of Directors; and a member of the Institute of Economic Affairs.


 

Dr. Robert K Kabugi, MBCHB

Director

Dr. Kabugi joined Fechim’s Board on January 1, 2006. He is a prominent general medical practitioner and founder/proprietor of Nyeri Medical Centre. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery from Nairobi University. He worked with the government for over a decade as a clinician and hospital administrator before setting up his private practice in 1987.

 

 

 


 

Eng. Julius Barare Okara, BTech

Director

Eng. Julius Okara joined Fechim’s Board on January 1, 2006. He is the Founder and Chairman of Express Communication Ltd (ECL). He is a renowned business consultant with wide ranging experience in Aviation, National and International Civil Service. Okara is an aeronautical engineer, who joined East Africa Airways and later Kenya Airways rising through the ranks to the position of Managing Director and Chief Executive in 1985. Among other capacities he has served as Acting Managing Director of Kenya Railways and Alternate Director of Kenya Ports Authority (KPA).

 

 

 

Ms. P. Wangui Irimu, MA Gender & Development Studies (UoN), MA Environmental Studies (York University, Canada), BA (UoN)

 

Director

Ms. Irimu is a development worker and consultant. She recently retired from the International Labour Organization where she was in charge of child labour programme in Kenya. She has provided technical support to various organizations that partner with ILO in Kenya, Malawi, Uganda and Tanzania. She holds Masters Degrees in Gender and Development Studies (UoN) and in Environmental Studies from York University Canada as well as BA (Hons) from the University of Nairobi. She is a member of the Kenya Institute of Management and serves in Fechim’s Strategy and Investment Committee (SIC).

 

 

 


Mr. John Ochiengi Okerosi BA (BE) (Hons), MAAK (QS), MCI Arb

Director

Mr. Okerosi holds a bachelor’s degree in Building Economics (Hons) from the University of Nairobi. He is a member of the Architectural Association of Kenya (Quantity Surveyors) and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is currently a Partner at the Nairobi office of Davson & Ward. He has undertaken institutional, commercial and industrial developments throughout East Africa gaining varied experience in construction and project management, long term planning and forecasting, budgeting, procurement and property valuation. He is a member of the Strategy and Investment Committee.
